It is nice to know that the first company that issued a coupon has been Coca-Cola. This company distributed the coupons through mail and magazines. From 1894 to 1913 It is estimated that  one in nine Americans  had received a free Coca-Cola!

I prefer to receive  grocery coupons because they can be used with most retailers and not only with one brand or store. Normally these coupons are directed to the people that want to save money when purchasing groceries. Welfare coupons are directed to people who are considered at risk of living in poverty or to be living in poverty. So these coupons  are for people  with very low incomes.
