Property rent: how to look for the right apartment

How to find the apartment of our dreams? There are several ways to find a rental property, including:

• Ask your friends, relatives and acquaintances, especially those who already live in the area that interests you. Many property rents are found through word of mouth in general, particularly in major cities, where it is almost impossible to find a property rent unless you have connections.
• Check out the property rent ads in newspapers and local magazines (see below).
• Take a look at property rent pages on the web 
• Look in the Yellow Pages for the closer real estate agency. It is often better to deal with an agent rather than directly with the owners, especially if you consider entering into contracts and other legal matters.
• Look for property rent advertisements in shop windows and on notice boards in shopping centers, supermarkets, universities and colleges, and offices of companies.
• Check the ads from churches, clubs and organizations for the expatriate, and their warnings... there are always property rent ads somewhere. 

Finding accommodation through small advertisements in local newspapers can be very fast. Buy newspapers as they are posted and start to call directly. You may also find advertisements for rented accommodation over the Internet and on all sites of major newspapers. Other sources include expatriate publications published in major cities such as "Gumtree" in London or "Secondamano-" in Milan - there are equivalents in most cities in the world. Some estate agents also provide lists of available apartments in their newspapers.

You must be available to inspect properties immediately or at any time. Even if you start a call at dawn, it is very likely that you will end up in the queue when you are going to personally visit the house, especially in London or Manchester. 

The best days for commercials are usually on Fridays and Saturdays. Advertisers may be private owners or real estate agents. You can place an ad, "looking for an apartment for rent " in many newspapers and on bulletin boards, but do not count on the success of the company using this method. Finding a property rent ad in London is comparable to that of New York, where the best properties are usually found through personal contacts. The worst time to try something suitable is during September and October when the Italians return from their summer holidays and students looking for rooms and apartments for rent.
