Budapest , why not?
Budapest one of my favorite cities. After having been there I decided to study its history and culture and would like to tell you what I learned in a few lines.
Some useful information about Budapest:
"Budapest is the most beautiful city on the Danube, a wise self-staging, such as Vienna, but with a solid substance and a vitality unknown to Austrian rival. Budapest from the physical sensation of the capital, a city of refinement and an impressive star history "(quotation by Magris 1986).
Budapest is a grand and elegant city consists of Buda and Pest, divided by the flow of the river Danube. Budapest’s architecture is the typical style of all central Europe cities such as Vienna and Prague (but also Belgrade). The cultural tradition goes back together in Vienna and Prague, Austro-Hungarian empire. Hungary has almost 10 million inhabitants, 2 million and a half of whom live in Budapest.
Budapest was an ancient Roman colony and even the Romans were the first to exploit the 123 thermal springs which are one of the features of this capital.
Its strategic position allowed it to trade and unfortunally it has been the main reason for the numerous invasions it suffered. This is why Budapest has been destroyed and conquered by the Turks by the Mongols, and lastly by the Habsburgs who ruled until the end of World War II. All civilizations that have occupied the tracks left in the culture and city living, such as the well-seasoned dishes influenced by Turkish, Austro-Hungarian Empire or Baroque cultures. . From 1945 to 1990 Hungary was part of the East bloc under the influence of the USSR, although the Hungarians enjoyed a relatively freedom from many other nations of Eastern Europe. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, it once again became democratic Hungary and Budapest a great capital of a country now fully capitalist.
Accommodation & Hotels:
Among the most expensive ones I suggest: Corinthia Hotel Budapest, (we stayed at this Budapest hotel
only a couple of nights) The Corinthia Palace is located in a street very well connected with the public services (metro, tram). The staff is friendly and very customer-oriented, welcoming lobby, spacious and equipped with every comfort . These are the main features of this structure that truly deserves the 5 stars. We enjoyed much its SPA.
Friends of ours stayed at Mamaison Residence Izabella Budapest, this Budapest Hotel is very convenient as its located down town ; also, the staff is really friendly and helped our friends in different situations.
Among cheaper hotels I suggest: Touring hotel Budapest we stayed here 1 week). This hotel was a surprise . Very clean and the room we rented was large large and convenient looking to different aspects , so yess!! A great cheap solution. !
Flights to Budapest (from the UK) : Budapest can be enjoyed at any time of the year, , however, in winter several attractions are closed so it depends on what your vacation goal is. I went to Budapest in May ( we enjoyed one sunny week). Cheap flights can be found during November and februrary. I suggest you book your flight on www.skyscanner.com, just as I did ! Else , you can fly directly with Wizzair , which flies from London to all eastern Europe capitals.
