Great damages due to medical negligence
My husband suffers from mild insomnia and my husband's doctor, even if he knows that my husband was a former alcoholic a few years ago, he still prescribed him zolpidem sleeping pills ( which are pretty strong for a mild insomnia) . After a few years I noticed that my husband was taking way too much zolpidem pills and I did everything to stop him from taking them, I even asked his doctor to decrease the amount of pills he was prescribing , but he secretly continued to prescribe the same amount. This is when the doctor first began applying medical negligence.
In fact, over time, my husband has developed a strong dependence on this drug (of course, he kept it hidden) and zolpidem pills were becoming almost ineffective, so the doctor decided to integrate antidepressant pills (again, a further evidence of medical negligence by the doctor) . The doctor said that my husband was suffering from depression without considering the fact that my husband's symptoms were clear signs of drug addiction. In fact, my husband began to experience pain in the shoulders and knees (probably due to the great amount of medicines he was taking) . Still, his doctor immediately ruled that it was rheumatism and decided to add more drugs to my husband's therapy : injections for osteoarthritis. (without going in depth for the real cause of my husband's symptoms) .
If this is not medical negligence , how else can we call it???
My husband was so filled with drugs that last July he ran into his first car accident (fortunately, without negative consequences), which cost us 900 pounds at the body shop. Of course my husband said he was not taking sleeping pills any longer , but I found out his doctor had signed the recipes without specifying the amount of drug, thus allowing my husband to buy the quantity of drugs he wanted , and when I asked him why he did it, he denied everything . This is not just a matter of medical negligence but also lack of work ethic. On september 3rd 2010, after a zolpidem's overdose my husband ran into his second car accident (thankfully, without serious consequences) but this time the police intervened and withdrew his license and seized his ( our) car. Surely, the license will be revoked. The doctor showed medical negligence once again because he denied he had prescribed sleeping pills. Luckily I found in my husband's wallet the recipe he had prescribed. The police forced my husband to take blood tests, which have shown that in addition to zolpidem he had taken barbiturates. A few days later I discovered that my husband had stolen some barbiturates pills in the his friend's house . This cocktail of sleeping pills, caused the car accident.
The year 2010 has been a nightmare for my family because I could not understand why the zolpidem pills had no effect on my husband. It's been very challenging, emotionally wise, for all of us and for our 5 years old child (Nicholas) who did not understand why his father always seemed to be absent and numb. The most absurd thing is how great was my husband's doctor medical negligence. He insisted, the whole time, that my husband 's problems where all due to a strong depression , without going in depth for the real problem. Now my husband has no driver's license, no car and our son cannot go to school because we have no car . Fortunately, since my husband stopped taking those pills, things got much better. He seems reborn. He has also thrown away the osteoarthritis drugs ( arthritis pain all magically disappeared). I'm happy that maybe we can see the end of a nightmare. However, I'm going to sue the doctor and ask for compensation due to economic, biological and moral damages the docotor's medical negligence has caused to our family ! I probably will also sue all those pharmacies that did not put the stamp on the recipies.
