How to choose door handles

It is really important to pay attention to details in a house, because are the details that enhance a house! For example let's speak about door handles: a door handle is used to open and close a door. It is impossible that your guests do not see your handles!

Door handles are divided in door knobs and lever-operated handles. Door knobs are not indicated for young and elderly people because they require a tight grip. Level-operated handles are particularly indicated for doors with narrow stile widths because there is insufficient space to comfortably turn a door handle.

There are different types of handle:

• Privacy: this handles are lockable and are typically used on bathrooms and bedrooms.
• Passage: this handles are not lock and are used in hall or closet doors.
• Dummy: this handle are used just for an aesthetic effect.

Door handles can often carry infection, I suggest to choose specific kind of materials, like copper, silver, brass that are poisonous to many germs. This self-disinfecting handles are used in hospitals but they should be in any public building. Stainless, aluminum, ceramic and glass do not have this self-disinfect effect. 

A door handles will be used multiple times every day buy every member of the family so it is not a waste of time if you spend time considering the best solution for your doors. First of all you have to consider your style, there is an incredible array of style! You have also to consider that you should choose a door handle that is easy to keep clean and is a complement to the design elements in your house. Another consideration that you have to do is about the people that will use the door (children, elderly people?). Moreover you have also to decide if you want locks: remember that you don't need to lock every door.

And, the most important think you have to consider your budget. You will be surprise in finding out how much door handles can be expensive!
