Just buy a holiday home insurance !

Holiday homes involve specific risks since not only there is the possibility that fire, flood, robbery occur but in an increasingly litigious world there is a public liability risk if people are injured or suffer losses in any way in the together with the possibility of potential loss of rental income if the home is badly reduced for a while.
But still holiday home insurance remains the only way to protect ourselves and our homes from possible dangers. I do have a holiday home insurance as well. Owners of abroad homes suffer the major risk because of different laws and customs that role holiday home insurances, not common building standards, and the great distance problems;  even your travel expenses in case of a problem could be incisive.

I consider a priority that any holiday home insurance policy is at least written in UK English ; the difficulty of arguing over the way a policy is interpreted  in a foreign court can be unbeariable. Beware of exclusion clauses; some holiday home insurance policies may require for you to drain down heating systems, turn off electrical power, turn off water, or switch on your alarm systems when the holiday home is not occupied. Whether your holiday home is in the UK or abroad the potential trickeries are many so you need to carefully read the holiday home insurance policy documents even more carefully than you would normally do at home.  By telling you about holiday home insurances I do not wish to discourage you from buying an abroad property I only wish to be handy in order to protect you from possible trouble.

Owing a holiday home is truly a great experience. I bought a couple in Europe and I am really enjoying the time I get to spend there, but the truth is that I experienced some difficult moments when I realized I had underestimated the cultural differences in the interpretation of insurance laws and had to ask for a lawyer help; and trust me it hasn’t been nor fun nor cheap. Specifically I advise to be very careful when buying a French property. It’s is sure that one of your biggest purchases and greatest financial commitments could be buying a holiday home in France. There are really plenty of possible dangers, from fire to flood, to frozen pipes, to fallen trees, ect… Basically all the potential problems that any holiday home could encounter. This is why I highly recommend to get a full option holiday home insurance. I got the basic holiday home insurance for my French holiday home and it turned out to be a big mistake. Luckily I managed to straighten the situation. As opposed to France, a much safer country to buy you holiday home and get a basic holiday home insurance is The Philippines.
I have a very reliable holiday home insurance company to advise : Home and Holiday Home property insurance overseas.
