Awesome trip to Tuscany

One of my favorite vacations has been in Tuscany last year.
We stayed in two different villas, one by the beach near Grosseto city and the other one near Siena. Since that time it's been impossible not to stop by Tuscany each time we visit Italy. Cypress tree rows breaking the clear blue sky on rolling hilltops. Grapevines and olive groves aligned tidily down the  side of a slope. Little medieval hill towns overlook wonderful countrysides that have been carefully cultivated since the time of the Romans.

I heard people saying that rather than taking a picture of the modern landscape one can observea Michelangelo or Raphael or Donatello painting . The scenery still looks like '500 years ago. That's also how I felt while staying in those beautiful tuscany villas where I spent my holidays.  The first tuscany villa I stayed in was near Siena, as I said , a superb medieval city which centuries ago depopulated due to the Black Death and never really filled up again, though parts of this stylish town kept a rural aspect. Siena is famous due to the Chianti superb wine country , just near by. This area produces the famous Chianti wine. All tuscany villas have Chianti in their personal wine cellars. I can still remember the smell of the wine cellar at the Tuscany Villa I stayed in by Siena , it reminds me of musk.

The other Tuscany villa I stayed at was by the southern Tuscan coast called Maremma, once wetland infested by malaria but now home to the famed cattled and cowboys who tend them, called "butteri". The countryside extends to the hills of " Monte Argentario"  and the lovely and very ancient town of Orbetello. The biggest Maremma town is called Grosseto and the second Tuscany Villa I stayed in was only 4 km from Grosseto. That villa was simply wonderful. The internal ceiling was original and hand painted by very young Michelangelo. I still shiver by recalling it. If anyone want to go to Tuscany , I absolutely recommend to stay by one Tuscany Villa , anywhere by either Siena, Florence, Grosseto or Arezzo. I assure it will be unforgettable !
