Tenerife: thrilled about it

I just got back from Tenerife, in Spain and I really feel to suggest it to anyone.
I felt in love with this Island!

When my husband at first suggested me to go to Spain, I was thrilled. I immediately thought of Madrid and Barcelona, and how wonderful it could have been to visit Gaudi's work and walk by Barcelona seafront. But when he talked about Tenerife, I kind of felt lost and confused because I had never heard of it ... I didn't say "no" immediately because he seemed so excited about it. I decided to look up on the Internet before giving him an answer. Not only I found out it's Spain's biggest island and the largest of the Canarian Islands (in the Atlantic Ocean off the shore of Africa),  but I fell in love with the landscapes.

After two weeks we landed in Santa Cruz, La Palma airport in Tenerife. I still remember as if it was yesterday the picture of the charming landscape,  high mountains overhanging sea. I immediately learned that Tenerife is a rough and volcanic island sculpted by eruptions during its history, this is why it has a very fertile ground.
Also, Tenerife island has 69 km of beaches, such as the one at Costa Adeje. The northern coast has stone beaches with dark sand, while on the south the beaches sand is much lighter and  finer. Due to its strategic geographical position, Tenerife has wonderful climate, this is why Tenerife is known all over the world as the "Island of Eternal Spring".

My husband booked a wonderful hotel by the beach, Hotel Playa La Arena, located at about 100 metres from the well known beach of volcanic sand Playa La Arena. The hotel area is located along the sloping backdrop of the famous Cliffs of Los Gigantes on the picturesque coast of Santiago del Teide, and walking distance from a dark volcanic sand beach. The hotel is a mixture of comfort and elegance blend with the natural beauty of the surroundings, inviting you to rest or  join in the various activities.

In Tenerife we met several compatriots and other international tourists and we compared our vacation experience in Tenerife. We found out that Tenerife has also two big valleys  where great wine is produced. They were staying at the Hotel Botanico & The Oriental, in the northern side of the Island. They suggested us to stay there for a few days in order to make use of the Hotel SPA service, and enjoying the extraordinary views of the Atlantic.

Who knows, maybe next year we will book there ! Last but not least, about the food: simply outstanding. For anyone who loves fresh fish and great white wine, Tenerife is the perfect place !

A really unforgettable vacation! I suggest Tenerife to all of you!
