BIKINI: “smaller than the smallest bathing suit in the world” Reader 1946.

Bikini... what an invention!!! people probably don't know that the name “Bikini” come from the bikini atoll of the Marshall island, where during the 40s the Us government was doing nuclear experiments. The first bikini was launched by the french designer Louis Rear, and he himself chose this name for this swimsuit that he launched in 1946. The first model in the world who decided to wear this new swimsuit, was the french model and strip-tease artist of the Casinò de Paris: Micheline Bernardini. But this information seems to be not completely true.
Evidences have been found by archeologist on Minoan wall (1600 BC), paintings that depict women with bikini. More evidences have been found also on Roman mosaics dated back to 300 B.C.
Since 350 BC bikini has changed a lot! Nowadays, if you are looking for a bikini, you will have to specify which kind you are interested in since there is a wide range to choose from:

![]() | Wide bandar |
![]() | Tanga |
![]() | Hot-pants |
According to the stylist also the topless variant can be still called bikini. The bikini bottom can have different style and cut, just as the bikini tops, depending on the amount of coverage they offer.
Not only women, but also men can wear a bikini! The most famous man's bikini is the one worn by Sacha Boran Cohen in the film Borat... exactly called Mankiki!
In my opinion, women can find the bikini that suits them best embellishing their body... I can't say the same for the man's body!!
