Parquet Flooring

I was planning to restyle my flat and I had been suggested to install a parquet floor on the existing floor by a friend of mine. I didn't know that it was possible to install it directly on the floor tiles and I now am really proud of the result as my flat looks modern, warm and so nice!

For tiles and marble floor you just need to check the adherence to the background before you proceed to install the parquet wood.
For example, smooth covering has to be turned coarse to be sure that it will stick. You will then proceed normally with the cleaning, repairing, installing and sanding phases.

During the installing phase it is important to take into account temperature and humidity.
In order to prevent condensation, temperature has to be at least 15°C while humidity percentage has to be around 45% and 65%.

How long does a good parquet last?

This depends on the usage you make and attention you pay, but normally a good parquet needs a new"make-up"after 10 or 15 years.
Depending on timbers type you have different quality and several colours combinations:

LightBrownRedDark
MapleIrokoMerbauWengè-Panga

BeechTeakDoussiè AfricaMutenye
OakAfromosia

Prices depends on the quality of the wood and is calculated per square meter. The average price for a good standard parquet may be around €30 per square meter.

Last but not least the parquet floor is easy to clean and requires little maintenance. For example you better avoid wearing high heels ... do not forget that the best you can do with your parquet floor is walking with you naked feet!
