How much do you know about storage?
The word storage has got lots of meanings. I didn't know that exactly, thus I had a look on the net and found out that the word is used in several fields.
First of all, storage is related to the safeguard of goods. Actually, a warehouse is a commercial building for storage of goods. Warehouses are used by manufacturers, importers and exporters and they are usually large plain buildings in industrial areas. Warehouses load and unload goods directly from seaports, railways or airports.
Secondly, storage refers to food. It's a traditional domestic skill and it's important industrially. Storing of food has the following main purposes:
- preparation for periods of famine, catastrophe or emergency
- preparing for special events and celebrations
- protection against predators or others
Thirdly, storage refers to those spaces where people put, for example, pieces of furniture or goods when they're moving into a new house. Those spaces are usually rented on a monthly basis and are known as "units", "rooms" or "lockers". They're usually secured by the tenant's own lock and key. Those units can be heated and located in building areas that are climate-controlled and ventilated. They are perfect for the storage of temperature-sensitive goods, such as antiques, archives, electronic appliances and similar items. They can be non-heated, primarily situated at ground-floor level and ideal for storing less delicate items. You can also have direct access storage units, located on the outside of the buildings, yet within the secured perimeter.
Finally, storage may refer to storage boxes, if you're about to move from your house into a new one. There is plenty of them on the net: different sizes, shapes and colours to distinguish the items. You can easily collect your goods and find them quickly once you are in the new house. Lots of boxes are hardwearing and last a lot longer than others on the market. It is even possible to use them for further storage use. You can use them to store any household goods.
They help you remove some of the stress involved in moving home!
