He believed  that love merely of physical beauty is superficial love. Such love disappears when the beloved becomes old. But love of soul remains constant and never changes.

The beloved has not responded to his love. The writer says that she will realize the sincerity of his love when she grows old. She will lose the soft look of her eyes. And then she will recall the days of her youth and beauty. The lovers of her physical charm will then leave her. She will remember all those who loved her falsely or truly. Then she will realize that it was only the writer who loved her truly. All others turned away from her with the passing away of her physical beauty.

                                Thus the writer tells his beloved that the true love is pure.It is of the spirit and not of the body. A true love does not love the beauty of his beloved. He loved the soul in her. The beloved may grow old. She may lose her beauty. But the true love never grows old. It remains young. A true lover continues to love his beloved even if she does not respond. His love continues even if the beloved refuses to accept him.
