About private schools

I was thinking about sending my daughter to a private school. I've always thought that a good education could be a strong weapon to reach the most important goals in life. A private school is supposed to give you a higher level of knowledge and competence.I didn't know much about the differences between public and private schools. So I've decided to take a look at the internet and try to make the right decision for my daughter.
Private schools are also known as independent schools ("public schools"). They're are not administered by local, state or national governments; they retain the right to select their students and are funded by charging their students tuition. Tuition varies from school to school and depends on many factors, including the location of the school, the willingness of parents to pay, peer tuitions and the school's financial endowment. However, students can get a scholarship into a private school which makes the cost cheaper depending on a talent the student may have.

Private school are often boarding schools, where pupils not only study, but also live during term time with their fellow students and possibly teachers. The word 'boarding' is used in the sense of "bed and board", that is, food and lodging. Boarding school pupils ("boarders") normally come back home during the school holidays and often at weekends. In some cultures they may spend the majority of their childhood and adolescent life away from their families.

As well as the usual academic facilities such as classrooms, halls, libraries and laboratories, boarding schools often provide a wide variety of facilities for extracurricular activities, such as music rooms, gymnasia, sports fields and school grounds, boats, squash courts, swimming pools, cinemas and theatres. Sports, clubs and societies (e.g. amateur dramatics, or political and literary speakers, or hobby clubs), or excursions (to performances, shopping or perhaps a school dance) may run until lights out.

After reading a lot about private schools on the net, I've made up to send my daughter to one of them. I'll visit some private schools downtown and decide the best for her.
I hope I helped you make your decision, too!
