Jeans… what a passion!

I'm fond of jeans like many other people.
I wear them on casual and more formal occasions, with trainers or elegant glamour boots. I've searched some info on the net about its origin and history. Read on if you want to know something more!

Jeans are trousers made from denim. Initially, blue jeans were simply trousers worn by workers, especially in the factories during World War II. Men's jeans had the zipper down the front, while women's jeans had the zipper down the right side.
By the 1960s, both men's and women's jeans had the zipper down the front.
By the 1970s jeans had become a general fashion in the United States, at least for informal wear.
In the mid-1970s the denim and textile industry was revolutionized by the introduction of the stone-washing technique by GWG. The popularity of jeans continued through the 1980s and 1990s. Now they are a wardrobe staple.

The word "jeans" comes from the French phrase bleu de Gênes, literally the blue of Genoa.  Jeans fabric, or denim, originated independently in two places: the French town of Nimes, to which 'denim' owes its name, and in India. At the same time, denim trousers were made in Chieri, a town near Turin, during the Renaissance, and were popularised in the 19th century. Historic brands include Levi's, Lee and Wrangler.

Nowadays jeans are a very popular form of casual dress around the world, and have been so for many years. They come in many styles and colors; however, "blue jeans" are particularly identified with American culture. Jeans can be worn loosely or snugly. In the decades before they became a staple of fashion, jeans generally fit quite loosely.

Recycled blue jean is becoming a popular insulation material used in the construction of houses, which moderates heat transfer and reduces sound transfer between floors or rooms.

Jeans come in many styles and fits based on the manufacturer. Styles popular among young adults include boot cut and skinny jeans, and many are sold pre-faded and distressed to achieve the appearance of a vintage look.

In my opinion jeans are more comfortable clothes... even in pregnancy, isn't it?
