Choose your engagement ring!

I've decided to get married and I wanted to buy an engagement ring to my bride. I knew that it would have been so exciting, yet a little scary! I wondered how much I had to spend, what style and what size I had to choose and how I could recognise a diamond.

Engagement rings are a timeless symbol of commitment and love between people. Diamonds are a perfect stone to be set into engagement rings. The website includes a wide range of engagement rings. Gathering some info about rings, I found out that the tradition of giving a diamond engagement ring as a promise of marriage began in 1477 when Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave Mary of Burgundy a gold ring set with a diamond as a token of love. This royal tradition has lived on over the centuries and the giving of a diamond ring has become as much of a milestone as the engagement itself. Today, almost 70% of brides receive a diamond engagement ring.

About the cost I've realised that a diamond ring corresponds to two months' salary! But this is just a detail. About the style I've found out that if you're buying together, you can take your time and try on different styles. If you want to surprise her as I did, look out for styles she likes on friends, in advertisements and in jewellers' windows. Traditional or modern jewellery? Yellow, white gold or platinum jewellery? I've seen that the most popular engagement rings are diamond solitaires, followed by clusters and the increasingly fashionable three stone ring. Emerald, sapphire and ruby also make beautiful engagement rings.
Pay attention to the size, too. To be sure of the right size, I pinched a ring from her jewellery box and took it to my jeweller for sizing. If you do it, don't forget to replace the ring before she notices it's missing!

When choosing the diamond, consider the 4 Cs - carat, clarity, colour and cut. The combination of these characteristics determines the value, rarity and beauty of a diamond. Think about the shape of the diamond. The most traditional is round brilliant, but there are many others including pear, emerald, oval, heart, marquise and princess.
Take a look at all jewelleries downtown. You'll find a beautiful range of engagement rings to suit all tastes and budgets. Experienced staffs will be at your disposal and will be happy to provide you with expert advice.
Make the best choice!
