A Nile cruise is one of the most interesting options you have to visit Egypt
History has always intrigued me and I try to combine history with fun in my holidays. Egypt is therefore one of the destinations that I would like to visit because there are so many historical sites that you cannot miss. Between the hundreds of different offers, a Nile cruise is one of the most interesting options you have to visit Egypt. I love cruising and I am collecting information about, in case Egypt might be the destination of my holidays. In my opinion, spending your time relaxing on the desk of a Nile cruise ship is maybe the best way to see dramatic sceneries and visit historical cities, such as Aswan and Luxor. Nile cruises are in fact getting more and more popular because almost all archaeological sites of the Ancient Egypt are located along this old river. Cruising along the Nile it is not as any other cruise or holiday, it is something nearly mystical, even because you can enjoy the monument of the Ancient Egypt having at your disposal all the comforts of the actual age.As said before, I prefer visiting cultural sites that a country offers rather than sun lounging in the swimming pool. That is the reason that interests me in going and visiting all Egypt may offer, and it is a lot.
Simply think about the Temple of Philae, which is placed south of Aswan and it is
considered maybe one of the finest sites of antiquity along the Nile and one of highlights of a Nile cruise, or the Luxor Temple, which is located in the centre of the city, which means that you maybe miss the past times vibe but you can live the combination of ancient monuments and modern city. In addition, a Nile cruise usually includes the temple complex of Edfu, which is often the first stop on cruises’ itineraries. If this is the case, you will have the opportunity of having your first taste of Ancient Egypt, further to the pictures or videos of ancient Egyptian monuments that you may already know. Moreover, the temple at Edfu is well known for the best-preserved pylons of any ancient site. Now, some basic suggestions that may be helpful while visiting Egypt.
Remember to drink a lot of bottled water to avoid the risk of dehydration but do not drink cold and iced drinks, because ice can be made from tap water. I suggest that you should not use tap water even to wash your teeth and to keep the air conditioning system at a low level in the cabin, to minimize the risks of sudden changes.
In relation to clothes, my advice is that you carry clothing that are able to cover you up because, notwithstanding casual dressing is usually well accepted, men are suggested to dress trousers for dinner and women must be prepared to cover up, as Egypt is a Muslim state. Do not forget that nearly all excursions are planned for the early morning, to elude the heat of midday sun.
Last suggestion, bear in mind that the Esna lock closes the first two weeks of every June and December, to allow the necessary maintenance. If you are planning to go to Egypt and booking a Nile cruise, remember to avoid these periods.
