Boxing Training: full equipment to excercise
I am a middle age man and I consider fitness a key factor in order to keep myself in good health.
There are many different ways to maintain a good shape. Playing sport is definitely my personal and favourite way for fitness. I have practised many different sports, such as football, tennis, swimming and running. As I am a real sport lover, some years ago I have also tried some boxing training. I am a fan of boxing and I still remember the great matches of the past.
I cannot forget the greatest boxers of that period, such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Marvin Hagler and Ray "Sugar" Leonard.
That was the time when boxing was still "the noble art". Therefore, I was very glad when I decided to go doing some boxing training. I still consider this experience very amusing and I have learnt some tips that may be interesting if you are planning to go doing some boxing training. First, I suggest that you check your health conditions and ask your doctor's advice.
Then, remember that boxing is a combat sport. This means that two people are opposed in a boxing ring and there is the possibility of injuries while boxing. If you intend to practise boxing in order to keep you fit, you will discover that boxing is a fantastic activity for toning and building your muscle, providing at the same time a great training for your heart and your blood vessels.
Boxing training usually includes a combination of muscle conditioning, skipping
rope exercises - that is very helpful for your aerobic fitness -, weight training, workout with a partner and punch ball training. The purpose of boxing training is the improvement of your eye to hand coordination and of your reflexes as well as a better definition of your muscles' shapes (especially the ones related to the upper area of your body). Furthermore, do not forget that you need a good aerobic fitness to play boxing as well as an accurate diet, which is a vital complement. A good nutrition program goes with boxing training because a well-planned diet will provide the required carbohydrates, which are needed for energy, and protein, which are required for muscle repair and growth. Moreover, a proper diet would help you controlling your weight because boxing is a sport where people compete within specific weight ranges.
Then, you must plan your boxing training program. First, you must determine your training purposes and goals compared with the available time you have to train yourself. Once done that, you must understand what you really need to improve (e.g. boxing technique rather than athletic conditions). Your trainer's advice would be useful to organize a well-planned boxing training program, focused on your exact requirements.
